What Does It Mean To Be Free Indeed?

Before we look at what it means to be made free indeed, let us look at the meaning of freedom.

What Is Freedom?

Freedom can be linked to the phrase “made free.” It is the state of immunity or exemption from an obligation, a duty, or any form of enslavement.

A servant, being a slave to his master, is not free from his master until he or she is made free indeed.

o be made free indeed is to be made free in truth.

Becoming Free Indeed

Do you know that a prisoner who finds a way out of prison will always remain grateful, if not faithful, to the one who led him or her? How about the one who sets him free?

Three Things To Do To Be Free Indeed

  • Know the Truth
  • Believe in the Truth
  • Live in the Truth

At this point, I want you to know that freedom in the making is situated in the knowledge of the truth.

For you to be made free, you must know the truth. For you to be free indeed, you must believe in the truth and live in the truth.

What Is The Truth?

You may be asking, “What is the truth?” At the same time, someone may be wondering if this is what it is all about.

Before you conclude on anything, I encourage you to know that whatever problems you have originated from what is called SIN.

If that problem must be taken away from you, it must be tackled from the root.

It’s not about facts or ideologies of men. It’s about the truth. Therefore, what is the truth?

In John 14:6

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”

Here we see the truth in the form of a person, Jesus Christ. He is the truth that has made all free indeed, but are you free indeed?

See the conversation between Jesus and the Jews in John 8:31-36.

“Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed in him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed?

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed and were never in bondage to any man; how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever, but the Son abideth ever.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Many ideas and wisdom of words can point towards freedom, but how to be made free indeed is the work of the truth.

In other words, Jesus Christ is the One who assures the freedom of the freed. He is the truth that makes you free indeed. Who the son sets free is free indeed!

For you not to rely on a presidential or governmental pardon of earthly punishments that doesn’t effect eternal damnation, you must first of all know Jesus Christ.

Knowing Him, you must believe in Him. Then, live in Him (in His righteousness by faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross).

Do you know Jesus Christ? Note that the knowledge of the revelation of Jesus Christ is beyond the scope of this write-up.

The basic truth is that we grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as we commune with His Spirit (the Holy Spirit).

“And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that which is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” (Revelation 21:6).

Dearly beloved,

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1).

Prayer:

Lord, we pray for insight in the scriptures, an understanding that brings us the light of the truth that has been revealed to us.
We ask that you give us the enablement to comprehend and live in the truth even in Christ Jesus, Amen.
