Have you ever found yourself in a situation where it seems all hope is gone but you are but you are still looking for a deliverer?
You may be in a state or condition that is causing you much inconvenience. Don’t worry, be happy; this is for you.
HOW JESUS CALMS THE STORM is worth one’s imagination but beyond humans’ imagination. According to the scriptures, It is certain that Jesus calms the storm, which no one ever did, and in a way no one can ever do if he is not with such a person.
Instead of relying on imaginations, let us directly look into how Jesus stopped the storm, which made many people wonder, “What manner of man is this??”
What Is The Storm?
The storm in this study is not just a commotion. It is a forceful commotion that causes great disturbance to its victims.
The Storm of Life
Everyone, in one way or another, has experienced what I tag “the storm of life” in our life adventures.
I don’t need to tell you how ferocious it can be. I know that many people are living even in the storm because the storm is a situation of suffering and sweating.
Honestly, the storm is a situation no one would want to be in. Unfortunately, everyone has to pass through it.
It is amazing to know that even our Lord Jesus Christ was in the storm with His disciples.
If we should consider imagining the story, we will be certain that they didn’t remain in the storm.
So what really happened? Jesus stooped the store! That’s what really happened, and his disciples were amazed, wondering what manner of man this is.
Jesus Calms the Storm
Before now, our Lord Jesus Christ was speaking to the people concerning the kingdom of God and in parables.
Afterwards, He expounded those things which He spoke unto His disciples in the closet.
According to the gospel account in Mark chapter 4, Jesus Christ, on the evening of the same day on which He ministered unto the multitude, called His disciples to join Him on the other side.
“And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.” (Mark 4:36).
Jesus Christ with His disciples embarked on a journey to the other side, but while on the way, something happened.
“… there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.” (Mark 4:37).
What a great inconvenience that was to the disciples of Jesus Christ! What an inconvenience that would be to me and you if we were to be there!
What Was Jesus Doing in the Storm?
“And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow, and they awakened hi and said unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark 4:38).
Brethren, Jesus Christ was resting in the storm while His disciples were restless in the storm.
This is a clear picture of what’s happening in the world today. If you are restless, there is hope. The only one who rested in the storm (Jesus Christ) is ever willing to give you rest!
At the time the disciples went and met Him on the matter, the Bible says,
“… he arose, rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39).
It is true that Jesus calms the Storm. He was in the storm and exercised dominion over the storm. Still do you know how jesus calmed the storm?
How Jesus Calms the Storm
From where we read, note the bold words (‘rebuked’ and’said’). Jesus Stopped the Storm by commanded the storm to stop and told the sea to be at peace. Immediately, the storm stopped and the sea became calm.
Therefore, Jesus calmed the storm at His words. And when His disciples saw this, they all wondered.
What Manner Of Man Is This?
“And he said unto them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?
And they feared exceedingly and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:40-41).
If the disciples who were with Jesus could say, WHAT MANNER OF MAN IS THIS concerning Jesus?, what would you say?
For I know that He is coming into that situation to give you a solution. But you must first go to Him!
Here is what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28:
“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
The one who rested in the storm, Jesus Christ, who also stopped the storm in the ship and gave rest to His disciples, that same Jesus is calling you to come and receive rest from whatever storm that you are passing through.
It is true that many people don’t know what you are passing through, but Jesus knows. He is willing to give you rest from that situation.
Are you willing to receive it? Come to Jesus Now!
Conclusion:
“Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distresses.
He maketh the storm calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.” (Psalms 107:28-30).
“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Remember them, which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God, whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:6-8).
Never lose hope in the storm, for Jesus stopped the storm. He can do anything for you as long as you believe in Him.
